I am interested in buying this car from a guy i have been in contact with.





He is in the military and was shipped to the UK, he bought his car in florida, and says he can ship it to me for free to CA.





Will that cost me alot? to get the the car in my name and the license plates and all that? the taxes? how does that all work?Buying a car online advice?

The car was not on EBay, but on Craigslist, AutoTrader or some other classified website.





the car was priced well below others of the same yr/make/model


The owner is out of the country - or at least across country from you


There is a long story about why it is so cheap (job transfer, divorce, dead uncle).


He is offering to ship the car for free


You will use ';EBay Protection Service'; to conduct the transaction so that you are ';safe';


You will transfer money to this bullshit eBay agent


They hold the money until the car gets there.


You have 3/5/10/14 days to inspect it.


If you accept the car, notify the Agent and he releases money to the seller


If you refuse the car you get all the money back


If you refuse the car, the seller will pay for return shipping.

Ebay NEVER handles money


They also have a payment center - PayPal that handles all eBay transactions. Why would eBay want a wire transfer when they own a processing service?

Just a Quick warning: DONT TRUST CAR DEALER ONLINE UNLESS YOU HAVE SEEN THE CAR IN PERSON!!! once I was going to buy a toyota from a guy in MD and I was pictures of it and it was in great condition and he said he would pay for everything including the shipping!! to good to believe right? you betcha! He made me pay through ebay and when he sent me the car it was a piece of JUNK! I paid 8,500!! for a broken busted up not working toyota!! and when I called ebay they just said that they are not responsible and now the guy who called me disconnected his phone and their is no such address as his in the phone book at all!! so I cant sue him or anything! JUST GOES TO SHOW YOU CANT TRUST THE INTERNET sorry for not answering your question though.

Well, he will make you promises such as free delivery %26amp; 7 days inspection.... all you have to do is wire thoundands via Western Union to an agent of eBay Escrow Protection Services for your safety.... then he will pick up the cash and laugh at you for being a moron and you get nothing in return.

you will not be able to drive the car in california


it will not pass the emissions test. california


has different emission standards then Florida.


do not waste your time or money. buy a car


in california you will be a lot happier.
Read the notice at the top of the page on Craigslist. There is a warning that deals like this are 100% scams. You will lose the money and never see the car.
